EVESHAM United will be without two defenders as they test a run of three straight wins at second-placed North Leigh in Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West tomorrow (3pm).

The Robins, who are ninth in the table, head to the Oxfordshire outfit without last season’s player of the season Linden Dovey (calf injury) and Will Wellon, who is at a wedding in Sweden.

Evesham manager Paul Collicutt has released Dan MacDonald, who is expected to return to Monmouth Town, and Bishops Cleeve have put in a seven-day approach for fellow forward Kevin Slack.

So Collicutt is on the look-out for players to boost his squad, but is happy with the form of strike duo Adam Mann and Lance Smith on the back of the Jubilee Stadium side’s 1-0 FA Trophy win over local rivals Redditch United last weekend.

The Robins boss said: “We really only have one side to fear, and that’s ourselves. If the lads can reach the performance levels we’ve seen over the last three games, they will give us a chance in any match.

“They’ve set a standard and need to keep to it. We’ve only conceded one goal in the last three games and you’d like to keep that continuity going in defence. But we have got players who can come in and do a good job.

“North Leigh have kept a lot of players over the last couple of seasons and are probably the most experienced side in this division.

“They have some good footballers, particularly Jamie Cook who scores a few goals.

“They’ve got off to a good start and it’s going to be a difficult game for us.

“Their strength is going forward but they’re prone, like any side at this level, to conceding a few.

“I’ve released Dan after an incident at the Taunton Town game (on October 17) that I don’t want to go into publicly and I know Monmouth put in seven days for him.”

The versatile Jared Wilson is back after several months out with a foot injury and seems set to come in at full-back.

Loan midfielder Louis McGrory returns after Forest Green Rovers did not want him cup-tied in the Trophy.
