WORCESTERSHIRE’S Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden notched up their first triumph on the historic car scene with an emphatic Warwick Banks Trophy victory at Silverstone.

Neal, starting from the middle of the grid, got off to a flying start in the Lotus Cortina and was up to fourth in the early stages of the race for under two litre touring cars.

When a safety car came out to a rolled vehicle, the 60-minute race at the 2015 Silverstone Classic extravaganza was just hotting up.

Neal, 48, closed on the leaders and, just after the safety car period, made his mandatory pit-stop to hand over to Shedden.

The 36-year-old Scot’s speed in the Cortina was exceptional and he set constant fastest laps.

With a few minutes left, Shedden took the lead to take a fine win for the British Touring Car Championship pair and Pershore’s Team Dynamics.

Meanwhile, series organiser TOCA have confirmed their calendar of events for the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Brands Hatch kicks off proceedings in early April before the competition goes on to visit Donington Park, Thruxton, Oulton Park and Croft.

Action will recommence at Snetterton following the traditional summer break, which will be followed by Knockhill in Scotland.

A Northamptonshire double bill at Rockingham and Silverstone is next ahead of the season finale on the legendary Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in early October.

ITV4 will continue to broadcast every race weekend live on television.
