FORWARD Mike Williams admits revenge will be high on the agenda today when Worcester Warriors host Bristol in the final game of the regular season (3pm).

The Greene King IPA Championship’s runaway top two have been formidable all season.

When the two went head-to-head in the first week of the season, it was current table-toppers Bristol who emerged victorious, courtesy of a 23-19 home win.

Williams, 23, believes there is much more than a league placing on the line at Sixways.

“It’s always exciting to be home for a rematch and we owe them one,” said Williams, who scored against Bristol in the curtain-raiser.

“It’s the biggest derby in the Championship. We’ve got some key players available who didn’t play in the first game against Bristol, so I think you will see a different Worcester team.

“I think it’s been 50-50 this season between us and Bristol. Since day one we have felt it would be a head-to-head contest for the title.

“I would like to think we’ve been the better team, but I’m sure everyone in their camp would say different. I guess we’ll soon find out. We have been very strong in the set-piece all season.

“Our driving maul has been a big advantage for us, but I think 25 per cent of the tries they have scored this season have come off the driving maul. So it’s going to be very interesting.

“We would like to finish top of the pile, it keeps the momentum going. It’s been an awesome season. There’s great confidence through the team and we couldn’t be better prepared.”

Should Worcester emerge victorious, they face a two-legged semi-final with Rotherham. A second-placed finish would set up a clash with London Scottish.

“As a squad it doesn’t really matter who you play in the semi-final, it’s going to be tough either way,” added Williams, who is joining Leicester Tigers next season.

Formed in 2009, the Greene King IPA Championship is the second tier of professional rugby union in England.
