SCOTLAND under 20s international Jack Cosgrove will leave Worcester Warriors for Edinburgh at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old prop, who joined Warriors' academy in 2013 and made his first-team debut off the replacements' bench against Sale Sharks in the LV= Cup last year, heads north on a two-year contract.
Cosgrove's nine caps for Scotland under 20s included last season’s Six Nations fixtures and the Junior World Championship in New Zealand.
The Coventry-born front row qualifies for the nation through his grandfather, who was born in Newtongrange near Edinburgh, and his only first-team involvement for Worcester this season was a full debut in the 26-19 British and Irish Cup win at Nottingham when he picked up a yellow card.
Cosgrove said: “I’m over the moon to be coming north. With the club being in a European Cup final, they’re really showing they’ve got quality players and everyone is speaking very highly of Edinburgh.
“I know quite a few of the younger lads — Damien Hoyland, Magnus Bradbury, Jamie Farndale and Jamie Ritchie — from playing for Scotland under 20s and they’ve all spoken about how much they enjoy being with the club.
“It’s a beautiful place to live — I’ve been up a few times — and I’m looking forward to settling there.
“I think I’ve got a strong set-piece game and I’m looking to add something extra to the squad. I’m under no illusions it’s going to be tough but there’s a great buzz at the club and I’m eager to improve my game and kick on."
Cosgrove, who has been dual-registered with National League One club Cinderford this season, added: "I am still a Worcester player at the moment but, because it has been a bit frustrating not getting much game-time, hopefully I will do at Edinburgh.
"It is just one of those situations. I am not bitter about (my time at Worcester). I've enjoyed my time at Worcester and have improved as a player because of the coaches there but, when this sort of opportunity comes about, I couldn't turn it down."
