THE new season at Harvington Golf Club got off to a flying start with the April medal.
Matt Walker and Derek Thompson both recorded 58 nett, which was four below their handicap, with the latter winning on count-back.
Third was Andy Jones, who shot the lowest gross score of 72 for 61 nett.
The course was in fine condition after a flood-free winter and the efforts of Max Byrd and his team of greenkeepers.
Points scoring for the April stableford was low despite good playing conditions.
Winner Jeremy Saunders came in with 36 and four players were tied on 34.
After count-back, second place went to Tom Owen and third to Ricky Shillam.
A 12-man team will compete in their second Three Counties League match at Ravenmeadow, Worcester, after a win at home to Rodway Hill.
