HIGHLY-RATED Evesham United striker Lance Smith has turned down an approach from higher-ranked Stourbridge.

The 23-year-old forward has decided to continue playing his football at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium, after rejecting the Evo-Stik Northern League Premier Division outfit.

United signed Smith from Vale side Badsey Rangers in September 2013, and he finished top-scorer last season with 18 goals, as well as winning the players’ player of the year award.

He has been battling for a role upfront with summer signing Ashley Edenborough and loan addition Adam Mann in recent weeks, but was keen to stay with the Robins.
