LITTLETON failed to gain reward from dominating a 2-0 defeat at second-placed Bolehall Swifts in Midland League Division One.

They controlled play for long periods and created lots of chances but suffered from a combination of reluctance to shoot, over-elaboration, good keeping and missed chances.

Seventh-placed Littleton created their first chance in the second minute as Jamie Clarke escaped down the right but his shot was well saved by keeper Paul Hathaway.

Stuart Hall's 20-yard drive went just wide and Clarke had another one-on-one that the keeper smothered.

A Will Gayton volley went wide, while Kyonn Evans caused chaos down Littleton’s left but his crosses eluded team-mates.

But Tim Beattie's back-pass got stuck in the mud and Dave Yonwin nipped in to put Bolehall ahead in the 37th minute.

The second-half was much the same and Evans' shot was saved by the keeper at the foot of the post.

Littleton had strong appeals for a penalty for a foul on Hall turned down.

On 70 minutes, Bolehall scored their second when Yonwin appeared to be offside but he was allowed to pull back for Tyler Brownlees to net from close range.

Littleton continued to press but were left to reflect that Bolehall converted their two chances while the visitors failed to capitalise on at least six.

They visit Coventry Copsewood on Saturday (3pm).
