EVESHAM seniors got into the Christmas spirit with a greensomes stableford in crisp conditions.

The winners at the Fladbury club were Ian Tait and Mike Hocking with 41 points, closely followed by Dave Kewley and Ian Wood on 39.

Meanwhile, Broadway ladies competed in their winter league third round over a foursomes format.

Biting cold temperatures made conditions difficult over 16 holes but Juliet Enderby and Veronica Rudd fought hard to win with 25 points.

Maggie McDivitt and Elizabeth Milnes-James were second with 24, leaving June Griffin and Pam Hooper third on count-back.

Sonia Ward and Brenda Whittingham finished fourth on 23.

The men’s winter league fourth round started with damp weather but the conditions improved.

First in the better-ball contest were Glyn Jones and Mark Pritchard with 45 points.

Also scoring 45 but losing out on count-back were Ollie and Stuart Storrer.

Keith Burton and Barrie Marcroft were third with David Drinkwater and Brian Wright fourth.
