THERE were plenty of new faces on the podium for Pershore Swimming Club at the Soundwell county qualifier open meet in Gloucester.

The club also received a string of speeding tickets for surpassing set times in the competition.

Head coach Tom Naughton said: “There was some really impressive swimming from the whole squad and it was great to see new faces making competitive debuts.

“Although the medal haul was great, it was actually most pleasing to see so many of our swimmers receiving speeding tickets!”

Oliver Smith, 10, bagged his first gold medal with success in the 100m butterfly in one minute 48.99 seconds.

Cameron Leach, 10, won the 100m breaststroke (1.47.97), 400m individual medley (7.12.8 8) and 400m freestyle (6.16.30).

Caitlin Yates, 10, took gold in the 200m individual medley (3.24.89).

Jamie Saunders, 11, bagged golds in the 100m butterfly (1.29.74), 200m butterfly (3.14.29) and 50m backstroke (41.31).

Kieran Cooper, 11, picked up speeding tickets but won the 50m butterfly (40.10).

Ronan Williams, 11, scooped golds in the 100m freestyle (1.19.67), 100m backstroke (1.26.41) and 50m freestyle (35.90).

Charlotte Downey, 11, won the 100m butterfly (1.29.56), 200m backstroke (2.59.67), 50m breaststroke (45.21) and 200m breaststroke (3.28.02).

Macey French, 11, swam 39.73 in the 50m butterfly to take gold and Isobel Cumming, 12, won the 50m butterfly (37.72).

Amy Cooper, 13, added golds in the 100m butterfly (1.17.87), 400m freestyle (5.14.82) and 200m individual medley (2.48.05).

Hannah Simister (13) triumped in the 50m breaststroke (41.46), while Amy Weston, 13, won the 50m butterfly (35.03) and 200m butterfly (3.02.86).

Callum Sanderson, 14, sealed gold in the 400m freestyle (5.06.51). Jasmine Taite, 14, enjoyed victories in the 50m butterfly (34.46) and 50m backstroke (36.20).
