Worcester Warriors full-back Ben Howard says he feels in the best shape of his life.

The 21-year-old has put behind him a sea - son of frustration and admits he feels comfortable in the first team jersey.

Howard gave a man-of-the-match performance against Doncaster Knights, setting up two tries in a 32-16 success.

And the full-back says Warriors are hoping to treat the supporters to an en - terprising display today against Notting - ham at Sixways in the Greene King IPA Championship (3pm).

“We are trying to go big on counter-at - tack this season and it gives us a chance to play in the wide channels and, hope - fully, I can set up a few more scores,” he said.

“There was a lot of frustration at how the Moseley game went but we have had another two weeks to work on things and, hopefully, we will try to rectify that.

“We know what we did wrong against Moseley and it wasn’t perfect against Doncaster but we got the four tries at Castle Park. We want to give the fans the best spectacle each time we play at home.”

Bradford-born Howard admits it was a frustrating time for him last term.

“A couple of years ago when I played my first few Premiership games under Rich - ard Hill, and played for England Under 20s, it was good to get a bit of recognition.

“But last year wasn’t a good year for me due to a lack of first-team opportunities.

“I never got going last season but I have now had a full pre-season under my belt and I feel in the best shape of my life,”

added Howard.

“It’s been really good to play a few games on the bounce.

“As a full-back you need to be bossing people around you, taking control and making decisions.

“I feel confident with all the guys around me and I feel I can express myself.”

Howard said he has learned a lot from Chris Pennell, who is on the injured list.

“Chris is a model professional and I have had a couple of years learning from him,” said Howard.

“Hopefully, I am getting to a level where I can start to compete with him for a place."
