EVESHAM United hope to end their home hoodoo when county rivals Redditch United visit in the FA Cup first qualifying round on Saturday (3pm).

The Robins are yet to win at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium in Southern League Division One South and West this season.

Didcot Town striker John Mills bagged a hat-trick as the Oxfordshire visitors triumphed 3-1 in Evesham last night.

The mid-table Robins will have to create a cup shock against Premier Division side Redditch, who have started the season well in eighth position.

Evesham’s only home win this season arrived in the cup preliminary round when they beat lower-ranked Kidsgrove Athletic 3-1 with the help of two Jared Wilson penalties.

United manager Paul Collicutt, missing a string of players, relied on the same starting 11 at home to Didcot that drew 1-1 at Wimborne Town last weekend.

His side enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges before going in front on 32 minutes.

Ashley Edenborough crossed for Sean Wood to powerfully head home.

Mills, however, opened his account six minutes later by capitalising on poor defending to easily beat keeper Kevin Sawyer.

He struck again 11 minutes into the second-half with another precise finish beyond Sawyer into the bottom corner.

Evesham squandered a golden chance to draw level when striker Edenborough was pulled back in the box by Luke Carnell.

But Wilson saw his spot-kick saved by keeper James Foster.

Mills punished the miss by completing his hat-trick on 68 minutes with a well-struck drive.

Evesham rarely threatened afterwards although substitute Lance Smith glanced a header off target.

In injury-time, Foster safely gathered Matt Sysum’s header but Didcot had capitalised on a below-par performance by Evesham, who remain unbeaten away from home.

For the Redditch cup tie, midfielder George Washbourne, recently signed from Stourbridge, returns from suspension.

Centre-half Linden Dovey (virus) and midfielder Elliot Kennedy (neck) were back as substitutes in midweek.

Evesham: Sawyer, Jackson (Brown 73), Binns, Wilson, Sysum, Wellon, Tambling (Kennedy 60), Wood, Edenborough, Williams (Smith 60), Stanley. Subs not used: Harding, Dovey.

Attendance: 190.
