A NEW captain will lead Bretforton women into the new 2014-15 hockey season.

The experienced Tessa Lewinton is to guide the Vale team in West Clubs Women's League Premier Division '2A'.

They aim to go one better this season under coach Stuart Bearcroft and top the table after finishing second in 2013-14.

Bret player Vicky Watkins said: "It was an amazing effort for the squad but to kick on and try to improve is always the aim."

The second XI are also looking up following a deserved promotion into Severn Division Two and will be led again by Natalie Benwell.

Club training starts next Wednesday from 7pm at Evesham High School's artificial pitch.

Newcomers, whether experienced or beginners to the sport, are welcome to attend.

Bret begin their season on Saturday, September 27, with the firsts hosting Newent and the seconds going to Chipping Campden.
