EVESHAM confirmed their runners-up position in the Wildmoor Spa Men’s Tennis League with a 2-2 draw against local rivals Littletons.

They finished with 34 points, four above Ardencote Manor, while Littleton guaranteed safety from relegation but only by two.

Stratford celebrated their 12th consecutive league title with a 4-0 win over mid-table Henley-in-Arden.

The two relegated teams, Claverdon and Inkberrow, drew 2-2.

Littletons’ Dave Rudge and Sean Witheford edged out Evesham’s Chris Francis and John Clarke 6-2, 2-6, 1-0 (10-8) and beat Simon Wall and Paul Everett 6-3, 6-2.

On the other court, Simon Blewitt and Chris Elliott lost to Wall and Everett 6-3, 6-3 but were unlucky in going down to Rudge and Witheford 5-7, 6-2, 1-0 (10-5).

Inkberrow’s Graeme Rankin and Matt Saunders beat Richard Butler and Pete Thomas 6-4, 6-4 and Andy Ashley and Carsten Astheimer 6-4, 6-1.

Jack Richardson and Gordon Keir lost to Ashley and Astheimer 6-3, 4-6, 1-0 and Rankin and Saunders 7-5, 6-3.

In Division One, Pershore missed out on promotion after finishing third, one point behind second-placed Studley ‘B’ with Studley ‘A’ already crowned champions.

Relegation candidates Aston Cantlow doomed Shipston-on-Stour to the drop with a 3-1 success.

Moreton-in-Marsh ‘A’ finally claimed the crown as Division Two champions after a 3-1 victory at Alcester ‘B’ and second-placed Whitnash crashed 4-0 to mid-table HDA ‘A’ Redditch.

Bidford-on-Avon 'A' pulled clear of relegation trouble by winning 3-1 against bottom side Claverdon 'B', who were relegated along with Alcester 'B'. Division Three was already decided with Ardencote Manor 'B' and Inkberrow 'B' promoted and Ilmington and Chipping Campden 'B' relegated.

Henley 'B' edged the Division Four title on sets difference after beating basement boys Chipping Campden 'C' 4-0.

Runners-up Alcester 'C' beat mid-table Claverdon 'C' 3-1, which was not enough.

Slim hopes of Littleton 'B' avoiding the drop were extinguished by a 3-1 defeat to Studley 'C'.

Another nail-biting finish was contested at the top of Division Five with Pershore 'B' pipping the title from HDA 'B' Redditch on sets difference.

Both managed 4-0 victories, Pershore 'B' over Wildmoor B and HDA 'B' against Inkberrow 'D'.

The final fixture saw mid-tables sides Moreton -in-Marsh 'B' and Inkberrow 'C' draw 2-2.
