RAIN wrecked the Vale derby between title-chasing Pershore and Evesham in Worcestershire Cricket League Division One.

Second-from-bottom Harvington were denied by the weather in a tough trip to fourth-placed Pedmore, while Bredon’s top-of-the-table clash at Stourport in Division Three was also abandoned.

Evesham and Harvington, who are only separated by 10 points, are back at home on Saturday against leaders Worcester and Redditch respectively (both 1pm).

Pershore, who are still just one point behind Worcester in second spot, visit Hagley and Bredon host mid-table Alvechurch and Hopwood.

Meanwhile, Broadway enjoyed a six-wicket win at relegation-threatened Long Itchington in the Cotswold Hills League Premier Division in one of the few games completed.

They were set 155-9 but then achieved a weather-reduced target of 141-4 to claim 19 points and move up to third place in the table.

Broadway host bottom-of-the-table Elmley Castle on Saturday, while fourth-placed Bretforton entertain Long Itchington.
