NAUNTON Downs’ Ladies’ Club Championship went down to a play-off after 36 holes with Dawn Rimmer eventually prevailing.

The golf competition was played over two days of mixed weather, starting in dull and damp conditions.

The players had to come off course for an hour while a storm moved over and the greens were swept of standing water.

On the second day, the ladies were out early and enjoyed their second round in warm sunshine.

It was a close call with the joint leaders after 36 holes being Rimmer and Mandy Tye, who both headed for the first tee for a play-off.

Rimmer parred the first, which was just enough for her to take the title of ladies’ club champion.

The Taylor Trophy for the best nett score in the competition was won by Barbara Watson.

The presentation of the trophies by the ladies’ captain Carol Park was followed by a celebratory drink in the sunshine.
