EVESHAM were held 2-2 by Ardencote while Littleton were frustrated by the weather in the Wildmoor Spa Tennis League Premier Division.

Holders Stratford still head the table with 12 points after beating bottom club Inkberrow 4-0.

Littleton’s match at Alcester was rained off, denying them a chance to claim their first points of the campaign.

Fifth-placed Evesham suffered a double defeat to Ardencote’s first pair Ben Summers and Jack Smith.

Chris Francis and John Clark lost 6-3, 6-3 and Andy Crowther and Simon Wall went down 6-3, 6-1.

But Crowther and Wall defeated Ardencote captain Myles Wilcox-Smith and Christian Hardy 6-1, 6-2, while Francis and Clark triumphed 7-6, 7-6 to clinch the draw.

Against Inkberrow, top Stratford pair Callum Bailey and Ralf Neilson defeated Matt Saunders and Jim Richardson 6-1, 6-3 and Gordon Keir and Nick Brookes 6-0, 6-1.

Tim Page and Simon West saw off Kier and Brookes 6-1, 6-3 and Saunders and Richardson 6-2, 6-2.

In Division One, Chipping Campden lost 4-0 to Studley ‘A’ in a battle of the early top two.

Pershore took over in second spot on sets difference after picking up two points from a 2-2 draw with Aston Cantlow.

Division Two saw Moreton-in-Marsh ‘A’ break away at the top to lead with 13 points following a 4-0 victory at HDA ‘A’ of Redditch.

A battle at the top of Division Three saw FISSC record a resounding 4-0 win over Ilmington, who dropped to third.

Wildmoor Spa ‘A’ went second with a 3-1 win against basement boys Inkberrow ‘B’.

Chipping Campden ‘B’ and Ardencote ‘B’ shared the points in a 2-2 draw.

In Division Four, Alcester ‘C’ moved up to third following an emphatic 4-0 win over bottom-placed Chipping Campden ‘C’. Pershore ‘B’ edged above leaders Inkberrow ‘C’ on sets difference in Division Five after they beat Inkberrow ‘D’ 4-0.

Moreton-in-Marsh ‘B’ dropped to fourth after being held to a 2-2 draw by Bidford ‘B’.

Pershore Tennis Centre are holding an open day next month to coincide with the French Open.

The event takes place at the Avon Bank club on Sunday, June 1, which is the middle weekend of the Grand Slam at Roland Garros.

There will be coaching sessions for adults and juniors throughout the day as well as fun activities such as cardio tennis.

Doors are open from 9am until 6pm.
