PERSHORE swimming prospect Tazmin Pugh is celebrating after being presented with a World School Biathlon record certificate.

The award was for her 100-metre swimming time of one minute two seconds achieved when aged 12.

Pugh will represent the West Midlands in the English Schools National Inter-Divisional Championships in Bristol next month.

She is busy preparing for the National Championships and June’s Midland Age Group Championships as well.

Pugh and fellow Vale prospect Harry Bamforth helped Worcester ‘A’ become the top club in Worcestershire after winning the Worcester Winter League.

Her 100m butterfly short-course time of 1.02.98 was the 12th fastest ever, only 1.5 seconds off Olympian Fran Halsall at the same age.

Pugh, Chloe Golding and Bamforth also swam the National Arena ‘B’ final in Cardiff with their Ellesmere College Titans club finishing higher than their seeding of sixth position.

Pugh won the 13 and under 100m butterfly in the long-course pool, recording 1.04.28 and remaining first seed in the United Kingdom.

At the Midland Youth Championships in Corby, Evesham’s Golding took silver in the 100m backstroke in 1.04.59 and bronze in the 50m backstroke in 30.86.
