EVESHAM Swimming Club faced a tough PGL League round, finishing third behind Worcester and Redditch but ahead of Bromsgrove.

There were plenty of positives following fine individual and team performances.

Evesham are well placed after three rounds to qualify for another PGL final.

Despite many swimming up age groups, competitors returned home with 13 first places, 14 seconds and seven speeding tickets.

Luke Funnell won the boys' 12/U 50m backstroke in a new personal best of 40.91 seconds.

Joe Childs was second in the 11/U 25m breaststroke before the 10/U boys' medley relay team romped home.

The 10/U girls' team were second in their medley relay.

Jacob Goodall finished second in the boys' 10/U 25m butterfly before the girls' 13/14 medley relay team were also runners-up as was Emily West in the 12/U 50m breaststroke.

But the next first place arrived through Faye Castle in the 9/U girls' 25m backstroke.

Hannah Dufty was second in the 13/14 girls' 50m breaststroke.

Evesham dominated the 12/U 50m freestyle with Alistair Witheford and Emily-May Sandalls both winning.

Seconds followed in the 11/U boys' and girls' medley relays before the mixed nine years medley relay team triumphed.

Tom Perry was second in the 13/14 boys' 50m freestyle and Emelia Lambert went one better for the girls with a victory.

Benjamin McKenna and Heather Castle were second in the 12/U butterfly, while Tom Sims won the 11/U boys' 25m backstroke in a pb of 21.38. Reka Varvedo Beaton was second for the girls.

Kieran Cooper set a pb of 22.97 in winning the 10/U boys' 25m breaststroke and Holly Langston did likewise for the girls in 24.43.

Isabelle Hornblow was second in the 9/U girls' 25m butterfly.

In the freestyle relays, the 13/14 girls were second before the 10/U girls and the 10/U boys teams both won.

The girls also took the 8x25m cannon.
