LANCE Smith salvaged a point for Evesham United with a 94th-minute equaliser against Godalming Town in Calor Southern League Division One South and West.

United looked to be heading for a disappointing defeat the Jubilee Stadium until the former Badsey Rangers striker headed home substitute Elliott Kennedy's cross to earn the Robins a draw with his 14th goal of the campaign.

Without the services of three regulars through suspension, Evesham looked a shadow of the side that beat play-off contenders North Leigh 4-0 last time out.

Godalming had the better of the first-half with Mark Watkins hitting the side-netting and the same player being denied by keeper Louie Barnfather.

In the 29th minute, poor marking allowed Graham Purdy time and space to pick out Watkins who put the visitors ahead.

Evesham improved after the break and Smith was foiled by keeper Zaki Oualha, while Jamie Sauntson headed wide.

But, with four minutes of stoppage-time played, Kennedy crossed for Smith who out-jumped the defence to head home.

Evesham: Barnfather, Tambling, Bowen, Wilson, Wellon, Sauntson, Evans (Palmer 88), J Smith (Kennedy 60), L Smith, Dovey (Vercesi 68), Powell. Sus not used: Hitchman.

Attendance: 160.
