EVESHAM student Joshua Greatrix will play at Twickenham for the first time on Friday.

The 21-year-old hooker runs out for Leeds Metropolitan University against Gloucestershire’s Hartpury College in the British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS) Championship rugby union final.

Greatrix, who also plays for Otley in National League Two North, helped Leeds to a comprehensive 42-18 semi-final victory over Exeter.

He is familiar with tomorrow’s opponents after studying at Hartpury before going to Leeds and playing rugby for their second team.

The front-row prospect began playing at Evesham Rugby Club from an early age and then figured for Prince Henry’s High School and North Midlands under 16s.

His proud mother Margaret said: “He is very keen to finally play at Twickenham as it is the first time his university side has played there.”

Meanwhile, bottom-of-the-table Evesham crashed to a 76-3 defeat at leaders Pinley in Midlands Three West (South). They host Cheltenham North on Saturday.
