AMY Cooper brought the curtain down on a successful 2014 Worcester County Championships for Evesham Swimming Club.

She produced a fine 800-metre freestyle display in Hereford, smashing her personal best by 16 seconds to clock 11 minutes 05.10 seconds for fourth place.

The British Age Group categories (BAGCAT) rankings at the end of the championships made good reading for Evesham with three nine-year-olds in the top seven girls out of 31.

Mollie Cresswell was ranked fourth, Rachel Egan sixth and Sophie Pettit seventh. Cresswell and Pettit collected with medals.

Kieran Cooper finished eighth out of 26 10-year-old boys, while 11-year-old Luke Perry was fifth out of 23 with Toby Vale 10th.

Thirteen-year-old Martha Bailey made fourth place out of 33 girls and secured a medal in her championship debut.

Charlie Waites ended the competition fifth out of 24 swimmers in his age group alongside his medal collection.

It was then back to normal for the youngsters with 11 joining acting head coach Andy Mabbett for long-course training.

The nine to 14 year olds were put through their paces in a 3,400m set, focused on technique, at Coventry’s 50m pool.
