PAUL Collicutt will be back in the Evesham United hot-seat this weekend following emergency surgery on his arm.

The Robins manager was rushed into hospital in Cheltenham ahead of last Tuesday’s match at Taunton Town with cellulitis, which can lead to septicaemia if left untreated.

He required two operations before being discharged at the weekend, meaning he also missed the 2-1 home victory over Fleet Town.

But while Collicutt can’t wait to get back on the touchline for Saturday’s Calor Southern League Division One South and West trip to Cinderford Town (3pm), he admits the episode has been a reality check.

He said: “It puts things into perspective and I had a lot of time to lie there and think about a lot of things.

“It was a bit of an eye-opener. I ended up with a bed on the cancer ward and that gives you a reality check.

“I had a bad hand but it was nothing compared to what other people were going through there. We do take things for granted.”

Assistant boss Mark Boyland and coach Richard Smith took charge of the last two games but Collicutt says he is raring to go at the Causeway Ground.

Evesham, who also travel to Swindon Supermarine next Tuesday (7.45pm), are level on points with Cinderford but below them in the table on goal difference.

“I have missed it big time,” Collicutt said. “It’s made me even more determined to get things right and I am looking forward to the rest of the games until the end of the season.

“I was disappointed to hear the lads lost at Taunton and on Saturday the result was better but the performance wasn’t the best. But, at this stage of the season, it’s the results that matter.”

Striker James Vercesi will miss the Cinderford clash as he continues to be sidelined by a rib problem, while midfielder Elliott Kennedy is also doubtful with a groin injury.

Centre-half Linden Dovey, who has been struggling with a knee problem, was an unused substitute against Fleet and is nearing fitness.

Evesham’s second-string host Barwell on Saturday in Midland Combination Reserve Division One (3pm) after drawing 1-1 at Coalville Town last weekend.

Katie Armento (2) and Rosie Johns scored as Evesham ladies beat Hereford Lads Club 3-2 in the Herefordshire and Worcestershire League.
