Bretforton lose but Chipping Campden win

SECOND-placed Bretforton slumped 4-1 at home to Newent in West Clubs Women's Hockey League Premier Division '2A'.

Tess Lewinton struck as Bret were totally outplayed for their worst result of the season. Sophie Hamilton was player-of-the-match.

They visit Hereford on Saturday looking for improvement.

Chipping Campden won 2-1 at Ross-on-Wye in Severn Division Two despite fielding just 10 players.

Sam Edmunds defended well, while Berni Amphlett, Sue Purcell and Jo Peachey created numerous chances.

The breakthrough came when Sally Beale powered through from central midfield and put away a powerful shot.

A free hit from Amphlett created a great chance for Sarah Green to calmly double their advantage shortly before the interval.

Ross hit back in the second period but were denied by keeper Flo Giles and player-of-the-match Kate Potter in defence until scoring late on.

Campden host Shipton Oliffe on Saturday at Evesham High School (10.30am).
