EVESHAM'S Chloe Golding received her first international call-up when the West Midlands sent a team to a premier European swimming meet.
The 15-year-old was joined by five Ellesmere Titans club-mates at the Luxembourg Euro, which included competitors from Holland, Belarus, Lithuania, Switzerland, Poland, Germany, Italy, Greece and Malta.
Golding recorded five minutes 7.77 seconds in the 400m individual medley for seventh place in her division.
In the 100m backstroke, the teenager was fourth in the juniors and her time secured a place in the open finals where she managed 15th against university age girls.
Golding also came ninth in the 200m individual medley in 2.28.15.
On the third day of competition, Golding was ninth junior in the 200m backstroke in 2.24.05 and made the open finals where she improved her time to 2.23.51 for 19th.
Her final swim of the meeting came in the 50m backstroke as ninth junior in 31.62.
Ellesmere head coach Alan Bircher said: "This is the first time the swimmers have had the chance to race away from home without either their coach or the comfort of having the full quota of team-mates with them.
"They are in extremely heavy training right now with sights set firmly on the Commonwealth trials at Glasgow in April. I hope they've learnt from the experience as it will serve them well later on for international call-ups."
