ENID Walker has taken over as ladies' captain at Evesham Golf Club, succeeding Angela Budden.

Her appointment took place at the annual meeting when Walker said how much she was looking forward to her year and encouraged members to take part in events.

The outgoing captain Angela Budden said how much she had enjoyed her captaincy and wished Walker every success for the forthcoming year.

The captain's drive-in will be held on March 11.

Meanwhile, with the qualifying groups now completed, Evesham's winter league is about to move into the knockout stage.

The winners of the blue league with a 100 per cent record, Daryll Mitchell and Paul Jones, look like the pairing to avoid.

Outgoing captain Geoff Insall and partner Phil Wheeler were unbeaten in a tight green league, while the pairing of Stuart Ridley and Darren Nightingale will fancy their chances after running away with the red group with a 100 per cent record.

The black league was the tightest with Will James and his partner Dan Martin finally coming out on top in a group where no pair remained unbeaten.

The knockout competition starts on Friday.
