EVESHAM lost for the second week running despite another committed display as they bowed out of the North Midlands Under 19s Cup.

With a growing list of unavailable players, particularly in the forwards, they lost comfortably 31-7 at Bromsgrove in the first round with the hosts taking full advantage of having the stronger pack.

Evesham were under pressure from the start and, although good defensive work from Josh Perry and Ben Middlicott kept Bromsgrove out initially, the visitors' scrum looked fragile.

They lost their first two put-ins against the head and the second gifted Bromsgrove an easy try.

Scrum-half Perry and the back row of Ady Cook, Fred Hopper and Dom Berry worked hard but the team struggled with rolling mauls and Bromsgrove added a second try with both converted to make it 14-0 at the break.

In the second period, Evesham held out manfully for 10 minutes again led by Perry, now at flanker, who was man-of-the-match for the second week running, but Bromsgrove eventually broke through to score a third converted try.

Evesham fought back through replacements Josh Sands and James Williamson before an Adam Johnson drive led to Evesham's only score through Perry with Mike Harris converting.

With hooker Martin Di Franco off the field, they lost control of their line-out and Bromsgrove added two unconverted tries before the final whistle.

Evesham return to league action on Sunday at Walsall.

The under 15s led at half-time but fell 27-14 at Alcester, who fielded a well-organised, physical side.

At the break, through tries from Jonathan Deakin and Jack Richardson converted by Giovani Capaldi, Evesham deservedly led 14-5.

In the second period, the competitive edge was lost and Alcester's pack started to dominate in ruck and maul.

Finlay Keyte, Richardson, Deakin and Archie Webster tackled everything but Alcester ran in four tries with one converted. George Guy was Evesham's man-of-the-match.

Stratford hosted both Evesham and Bromsgrove under 13s in a three-way tournament.

Evesham began with a 24-7 defeat to a strong Bromsgrove outfit despite fly-half Owain Hann's try and conversion.

However, the Vale outfit defeated local rivals Stratford 14-7 when James Cross won line-out ball and the strong Ben Holland crashed over with Hann converting.

Centre AJ Corbett hacked the ball through for a second converted try before Stratford replied in the second-half.

Evesham's under 10s went to Alcester for a mini tournament with the Blues beating Alcester 3-1 through tries from Max Arris, Will Brett and Aimee Tipping-Lane.

But Evesham Maroons beat Blues 4-2 through Oli Wycherley (3) and Tom Stone with Jack Sanger-Davis among those to reply.

Maroons then beat the hosts 4-3 thanks to Jake Hopkins, James Hoare and Stone scored. Amelie Appleby was player-of-the-tournament.

The under eights also faced Alcester, winning 10-9 and losing 11-10. The try-scorers were Harry Wycherley (6), Ethan Corbett (4), Joshua Neal (4), Cameron Brydon (2), Ollie Dishart (2), Luke Tegg and Luke Drayton.
