EVESHAM Vale Triathletes’ Melanie Clarke raced in the Great Britain age group sprint race at the World Championships in London’s Hyde Park.

Clarke tackled a 750- metre swim, 20-kilometre bike section and 5km run, clocking one hour 24 minutes 16 seconds to be 43rd in the 45 to 50 year category.

She also raced in the open competition with Evesham’s Helen Seabourne and Patrick Twist.

Elsewhere, Clarke was fourth female at the Stratford Sprint Triathlon over a 450m swim, 20km bike and 5km run.

She won her age group in 1.17.13, while Sue Turner claimed the 65 to 70 category in 1.54. Steve Gisbourne clocked a personal best of 1.19.22.

Three Vale teams competed in the Lake Logic event, a 1,500m swim, 54km bike and 10km run at Cotswold Water Park, coming second, third and fourth in the relays.

At the Splash and Dash Aquathlon, Dominic Hollingdale won with Dan Gregory second and Evesham’s James Vann third.

Paul Fensome was third 40 to 45-year-old at Bowood Standard Distance Triathlon in 3.45.

At the Shipston Junior Dip ‘n’ Dash Aquathlon, Martha Cross won the tri start category for seven to eight-year-olds in 4.56.

For the nine to 10-yearolds, Hattie Gill was third girl in tri star one and Hamish Cross sixth boy (9-10).

Morgan French was sixth in the boys’ 11 to 12 year section and Ollie Gill eighth. Eleanor Tarring finished third girl in the 13 to 14 year group.
