AN energetic Evesham grandfather finished second super veteran after conquering Switzerland’s Lake Zurich.
Dave Granger, 56, was fifth veteran in nine hours 30 minutes in the 15-and-a-half mile challenge organised by Sri Chinmony marathon team.
The Evesham Swimming Club masters member has tackled endurance sports for more than 30 years.
Granger, a grandfather of three, started doing marathon swims three years ago and covered the English Channel in 2011 in 15 hours.
He swam the length of Lake Zurich with his training partner Oliver Wilkinson winning in six hours 56 minutes 36 seconds.
An hour-long storm made it even more challenging in water temperatures of around 25 degrees.
Seven solo swimmers and two relay teams did not reach the cut-off point or had to give up.
