Stow-on-the-Wold can secure the Berks/Bucks and Oxon Premier Division title when they host Hungerford on Saturday (3pm).

A 25-10 home win over titlerivals Swindon College Old Boys moved Stow, who boast a 100 per cent record, closer to the championship.

Their impressive first-half display set up the win as they took control.

A series of thrusting runs and drives eventually resulted in Andrew Piercey picking up from a ruck and driving over with Nick Cafearo converting and then adding a penalty.

Mat Green ran from his own half and passed to James Holmes who beat several defenders before offloading to Cafearo for the run-in to the corner.

Green then charged down an attempted clearance and won the race for a converted try but the visitors started the second-half well and scored in the corner.

Stow, who boast a 17-point lead at the top with four games left, lost two players to the sin-bin but a Cafearo penalty steadied the nerves before Swindon scored a try from the last play.

Before Saturday's game will be the schools finals for under 16s. Sibford meet Chipping Campden in the Plate (noon) before Cotswold face Chipping Norton in the Cup.

  • Third-placed Chipping Norton head to Bicester on Saturday after a 24-0 defeat at lowly Littlemore.
