Prince Henry's record is perfect
12:00pm Friday 8th March 2013 in Sport
THE Evesham Worcestershire Cricket Board Indoor League hosts Prince Henry’s kept up their 100 per cent record.
They won by five wickets against a dogged Boxmen team who batted first with Mike Banks (27 retired) starring as an opener.
Boxmen began steadily but Aran Batchelor (21) took the initiative until bowled by the pacy Mike Brown (1-14).
The partnership of Josh Colwell (17 not out) and Banks never hit a problematic run-rate. Banks retired before strong hitting in the last over from Colwell helped post 90-2, including 17 wides.
Prince Henry’s openers Chris Ayliffe (26ret) and Elliott Thompson (25) did not waste a ball and scored at 10- an-over. Liam Ridings (23no) looked to score from every ball with Simon Price (14no) as they reached 94-1.
Dumbleton (115-5) beat Redditch (84 all out) by 31 runs as each innings was dominated by one batsman.
The villagers opened with Matt Nicholson (5) and Adam Stewart (64no) but the former’s departure began a flurry of wickets.
Tom Green (10) was bowled by James Bevan (3-16) and quickly followed by Phil Patterson and Andy Powell with only 63 runs on the board.
However, James Russell (6) stayed with Stewart for the last six overs. In reply, Redditch started badly with Tom Phelan (4) run out from the first ball of the second over.
Devlin Jacobs (15) survived the pacy Green but his team lost four wickets to run outs by the end of the fifth over.
Dan Prothero (32) threatened the target but was last out with two overs left.
