Ford fires to victory with fine showing
8:00am Sunday 3rd March 2013 in Sport
JUBILEE members met for the last fishery match before it closes and reopens on March 30 for the Easter match.
On a bitterly cold day, only five members caught fish but Richard Ford, on peg J37, managed an impressive 46lbs 4oz for a comfortable win.
Ian Pitman weighed in one fish for a second-placed 6-3, while only two of the three sections were won through John Cox (4-12) and Phil Seedhouse (4-2) who also won the fishery knock-out cup, beating Doug Smith in the final.
Jubilee members met in Worcester for the canal series and, after breaking the ice, competitors had mixed fortunes.
Seedhouse won with 5-4 of roach, skimmers and gudgeon on bread punch ahead of Tim Hunt (2-6) and Bob Haynes (1-14-8).
Fishery winter league: 1 Ford 38 points, 2 Cox 37, 3 Doug Smith 36, 4 Chris Taylor 30, 5 Janice Smith 30, 6 Richard Walker 29, 7 Martin Smith 28.
There will be a fishery maintence weekend on March 16 and 17 and all members are requested to attend early on either day to prepare for the start of the new season.
