PERSHORE took another step towards promotion from Worcestershire Women’s Hockey League Division Two.

The table-toppers beat third-placed Harborne fourths 3-0 after defeating Droitwich 5-3 the previous week.

Emma Gardner broke the deadlock after 20 minutes from a short corner before Mary Small and Heidi Wilkie’s first goal for the club finished off the hosts.

Stand-in Pershore keeper Gemma Pinney pulled off several saves backed up by a goal-line clearance from Jenny Wood.

The men’s ENER-G League West Midlands Division Two promotion hopes took another major blow with a 3-2 defeat at Oswestry.

Gareth Rushton fired Pershore 2-1 ahead from penalty corners but Oswestry scored the winner while Paul Murphy was sin-binned and Mike Doust played on with a bad finger injury.
