Town left to rue host of misses

PERSHORE Town drew 0-0 at home to Stafford Town in the Athium Midland Football Combination Premier Division.

The hosts failed to take their chances as the game ended in a desperate share of the points.

Pershore controlled most of the first-half and early strikes from Phil Marsh and Richard Congrave went close. The latter had an effort disallowed for offside before the second period started in similar fashion.

The same player had two good chances and Stafford’s keeper made a fine near-post block.

The visitors had their best spell and, from a corner, the ball was smashed against the bar and the follow-up was superbly tipped against the woodwork by goalkeeper Matthew Oliver.

Marsh was unlucky when he beat a defender and shot narrowly over before Congrave struck the bar.
