St James target the final after success

THREE matches tidied up some loose ends in the Cotswold League’s ‘B’ team competition.

St James took another step towards the final with a 4-0 win over Temple Guiting as Jamie Tolley set up two goals for Alfie Aubrey.

Archie Griffiths made it 3-0 before Aubrey completed his hat-trick late on. Temple Guiting played again, conceding to Mickleton’s Alfie Organ from the face-off.

But Mickleton suffered bad luck when their keeper made a good save only to reach back over the goal-line with the ball in his hand.

Temple Guiting came to life with braces from Josephine Mutsaars and Charlie Davidson before their keeper Rhys Manktelow denied Organ a second.

Temple Guiting then worked hard for a 2-0 win with Davidson and Harry Pinchin on target.

Ilmington top the table with 13 points, followed by Shipston and St James on 12 each.

Dormer House are still in the hunt but Shipston and St James have plenty of games in hand.

Tonight, five girls’ league matches will be played and St Davids have a great chance of making the final if they beat St James.

Willersey need three wins as Shipston wait for them to slip up and Mickleton are relying on other teams to help them.
