Pitch not perfect for West

EVESHAM United Football Club hope their pitch holds up to the rigours of two games in three days following the heavy rain.

According to manager Paul West, a drainage problem with the surface at the Spiers and Hartwell Jubilee Stadium is causing problems for the players.

West said last weekend’s 0-0 draw against Cirencester was in doubt ahead of kickoff and he hopes things improve for Saturday’s visit of Mangotsfield (3pm).

The Robins, who aim to sign at least one new player this week, then host Abingdon in a rearranged Evo-Stik Southern League Division One South and West match next Tuesday (7.45pm).

West said: “We have a couple of issues with the pitch which doesn’t make it easy for the players.

“It’s a drainage problem and is like a quagmire. The quicker we can solve that, the better.”
