Campden in shock triumph

CHIPPING Campden shocked West Clubs Women’s Hockey League Severn Division Two leaders Cirencester seconds.

They won 6-2 on their travels after both teams took time to adjust on a bitterly cold day.

Jody Russell outstripped the Cirencester defence and slotted home to give Campden the lead.

They continued to press and Russell added a second with Kerry Jackson and Sally Beale also swooping to give the visitors a 4-0 advantage at half-time.

Cirencester started the second- half strongly and pulled a goal back but third-placed Campden, five points behind the leaders, continued to attack and Jackson added to the score from a short corner.

The hosts bagged a second before Charlotte Styles completed the Campden tally to cap a good all-round team performance.
