A DAD-OF-ONE was “smiling from ear to ear” after proposing to his girlfriend on Valentine’s Day with a £1,000 diamond ring he won in a competition.

Craig Smith, of Warndon Villages, Worcester, popped the question to Jordan Minnis at her workplace on Wednesday having won the competition run by Anja Potze Fine Jewellery and Youthcomm Radio.

He said: “I can now finally propose to my girlfriend, not only to show how much I love her but also to say thank you for sticking with me through the hard times we have encountered.

“After a challenging year, losing my job and still trying to support my wonderful girlfriend and three-year-old son, times are hard.”

The competition was launched on January 31 to all Facebook fans and listeners of the Friar Street jewellers and St Johns-based radio station.

Ms Potze was delighted to be able to donate the platinum and .20ct diamond engagement ring as the prize.

“For us, donating this ring was a wonderful thing to do,” she said.

“We have a lot of beautiful pieces of jewellery in the boutique, especially engagement rings that are more affordable than you may think.

“To be able to gift the ring to someone who thoroughly deserved it, and to be part of a wonderful Valentine’s Day proposal is very exciting.”

Mr Smith added: “Thank you so much. Honestly, none of this would have been possible without Anja and Youthcomm Radio.”

The jewellers and radio station have wished the couple the best of luck in their future together.
