A MEETING will be held tonight to discuss the future of Worcester's recently selected Labour parliamentary candidate, Mandy Richards.

The discussion will take place at an emergency meeting of the Worcester Constituency Labour Party at the Unison offices, in Love's Grove, Worcester, at 8pm.

In the latest revelation, the Worcester News has learnt that Miss Richards put Dawn Butler, an MP and shadow secretary, down as one of her references on her candidacy application form.

It is understood that the MP did not respond when Labour Party officials asked her for a reference, despite Miss Richards saying she had worked for Ms Butler.

Labour county councillor Paul Denham, one of the party's branch delegates to the local executive committee, said: "It's a meeting to discuss the fallout from this unfortunate selection process.

"We hope to be given information on how we go forward from here.

"The national executive either has to endorse a local candidate selected by the local party or not.

"As far as I know there's been no decision yet by the national executive of the Labour Party."

Mike Foster, the former Labour MP for Worcester, has called for Miss Richards to be 'sacked immediately'.

The Sunday Times exposed Miss Richards as a 'fantasist who has been placed under 14 extended civil restraint orders by the High Court' in an article published this weekend.

The story said she was banned from bringing court actions without a judge’s permission after 'false and vexatious claims' against MI5, MI6, the Metropolitan police, the army, Thames Water, her gas, electricity and broadband suppliers, Royal Mail, Hackney council, her GP and the freeholder of her flat.

Since the story broke, a series of conspiratorial tweets by Miss Richards have been unearthed.

She shared a conspiracy film suggesting footage of the Westminster terror attack had been doctored in April last year.

The candidate also questioned the evidence behind the murder of British MP Jo Cox in the same tweet.

In another tweet she asked why there were no images or footage of damage at the Manchester Arena, following the bomb attack last year.

The Worcester News has learnt that Miss Richards chose not to disclose anything in her background which could bring the party into disrepute in her candidacy application form or interview.
