A TEAM of fundraisers from Malvern Special Families tackled the Forest Warrior mud and obstacle course in the Forest of Dean on Sunday.

The team were faced with a series of gruelling obstacles as part of the 12km event. They had to climb over fallen trees, run through thick mud and go over and under obstacles, crawl up a waterfall and scale a giant inflatable 'iceberg', before plunging into an icy river and swimming across it.

Rebecca Lewis-Knight of the team said: “I recently moved to the area and I wanted to volunteer for a local charity in support of children and young people with disabilities.

"I have really enjoyed meeting new people through Malvern Special Families and it has helped me to feel part of the local community.

"I absolutely loved the Forest Warrior event and have been overwhelmed with the support and donations. I really enjoyed wallowing in the mud and trying not to lose my trainers. There was such a great atmosphere for all involved and we giggled all the way round the course.”

Cassie Zoro of Malvern Special Families said: “I don’t like confined spaces so crawling through a very narrow tunnel half full of icy water was a challenge.

"The fundraising team were fantastic and we had so much fun. We all helped each other out along the course and over obstacles like fallen trees and high walls, waded through waist-high mud and then took on the final hurdles like scramble nets, monkey bars and more.

"It was really tough, but a fantastic experience. We have been overwhelmed by the support we’ve had, thanks to everyone who has donated and taken part. We look set to raise over £1,500 for Malvern Special Families charity which is fantastic news.”
