WORCESTERSHIRE County Council’s Planning and Regulatory Committee has approved an application for the proposed construction of Southern Link Road Phase 4.

Ken Pollock, who represents Tenbury on Worcestershire County Council where he also holds an economic development portfolio says that the road will be vital for the prosperity of the area.

It includes the dualling of A4440 between Ketch and Powick roundabouts with improvements for pedestrians and cyclists, a new road bridge and viaduct to be built alongside current structures and a new footbridge.

“The road is an essential part of Worcestershire’s strategic road network,” said Ken Pollock, the county council’s cabinet member with responsibility for economy and infrastructure and member for Tenbury.

Experts say that good road, rail and other infrastructure are vitally important to economic growth including attracting inward investment to create jobs.

Worcestershire County Council, anticipates the main construction work to commence Spring 2019.

The work is one of a number of infrastructure projects that are planned.

Full plans for the work and any diversions will be made known next year.
