CARING Co-op colleagues have helped boost a Kidderminster hospice by raising more than £7,400 for them.

Kemp Hospice has been given £7417 thanks to the fundraising efforts of The Midcounties Co-operative across Wyre Forest.

To raise the money colleagues undertook a variety of fundraising activities including a Spring Fair, a midnight walk and a Santa fun run at Christmas.

The Co-op selected the hospice, which supports people and families affected by bereavement and life-limiting conditions, as its charity partner.

Bob Richens, a Leadership Team Ambassador in Wyre Forest at The Midcounties Co-operative, said: “Since January colleagues in the Wyre Forest have completed over 800 volunteering hours and taken part in some great fundraising activities to help support our partnerships with these charities. We’re very proud to have raised such an impressive amount.

“The local groups and charities we support are incredibly valuable to the community. They offer a range of support to those who need it most and we look forward to supporting similar groups and charities in the future through our charity partnership scheme.”

Cathy Sloan, Head of Fundraising at Kemp Hospice, added: “Our main aim is to ensure that local people are able to access the support that they need at a time when they need it most.

“We offer a range of emotional and practical support to suit individual needs in our nurse-led unit and through home visits.

“This includes physiotherapy, occupational and complementary therapy, as well as support groups and one-to-one counselling.

“We’re very grateful to The Midcounties Co-operative and their fundraising efforts. Thanks to their generous donation, we will be able to support more people in the area.”
