BIRMINGHAM City star Paul Tait will give some golden glamour to an annual charity football match in Bromsgrove.

Paul Tait made history in 1995, when he scored the first-ever golden goal to decide a major tournament, in Birmingham’s 1-0 win against Carlisle United in the Football League Trophy final at Wembley.

Now he will officially kick off finance firm AFH's staff versus advisers football match at South Bromsgrove High School, raising money for Birmingham Women's Hospital.

Paul said: “I’m delighted to be kicking off a match to raise money for such a great cause.

"And as a great fan of grassroots football, I’m looking forward to see the AFH teams give their best.”

Long-serving advisers’ captain Barry Willis said: “With a player average of 20 years extra experience, I think we’re a cert to win, probably by a couple of goals, or maybe three.

"We’re all delighted to be having Paul along to give us a golden start, but I don’t think we’ll need a golden goal to decide this match!”

Staff captain Miles Wyatt said:“Be sure to come and watch, it promises to be a spectacle.”

The match kicks off at 6.30pm on Friday 13 July and admission is £2.

AFH has been raising money for Birmingham Women's Hospital all this year.

Last month a team of AFH staff, including Miles, raised more the £3,100 for the hospital in the Great Birmingham 10K run, while May’s bacon sandwich morning added £20 to its total for the year so far of £5,200.
