STAFF from building society West Brom recently helped put a smile on young patients’ faces at Birmingham Children’s Hospital.

Volunteers from the Redditch and Bromsgrove branches of the company got busy colouring, sticking and drawing during the ‘Art Kart’ session which aimed to keep youngsters entertained while they were visiting the hospital’s A&E department.

Redditch customer manager Charlotte Sinclair-Brown said the experience was "incredibly rewarding".

"It was great to see the children enjoying themselves and nice to think that, maybe for a short time, we took their minds off why they were in A&E," she said.

“The West Brom is a longstanding supporter of Birmingham Children’s Hospital and it’s a partnership we are really proud of. Our volunteers were also there last Christmas helping to decorate the wards.”

Bromsgrove branch manager Mark Adams said: “We all found Art Kart incredibly rewarding.

Eloise Davidson, from the Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity, added: “A visit to A&E can be an anxious time for children and their families, but our craft sessions always prove a welcome distraction, helping to bring some fun and positive energy into the department.”
