TWO daughters ran the Forest of Dean Half-Marathon in memory of their dear dad who died in training for the same event a decade ago.

Amy, 29, and Lucy, 27, Pegler ran the event in a time their father, Jack, would have been proud of, coming in at 2 hours and 26 minutes.

Jack Pegler's motto for life was to 'live every day to the full' and he was described as a bottle of pop.

This motto was the really positive thing that both the girls took forward in their own lives, following their father's sudden death at the age of 53.

Amy went on to graduate from Hereford College of Arts with a First in Textile Design and Lucy spent two years working in New Zealand – something her father also did at the age of 21 – before returning to the UK to pursue a career in the sports travel industry.

"Jack would be so proud of his two daughters in what they have achieved, their 'can do' attitude to life and their determination to raise funds for such a worthy cause," said Mum, Julie Pegler.

A tireless worker and community spirited individual, Jack has passed on both his fundraising and running genes to his daughters.

Textile designer Amy runs with Hereford Running Crew and is set to complete three further half-marathon events this year to raise money for CRY, a charity that aims to raise awareness and funding for sudden death in those of a young age.

Sales Manager Lucy lives in Weston-under-Penyard and runs for fun.

Together the girls hope to raise £1,500 for CRY (www.c-r-y.org.uk) and are halfway towards that target. To donate visit their Virgin giving page at https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/AmyPegler
