A DRUNK man abused officers before being removed from Worcester police station.

The offence was Christopher Langham's latest, after he was fined in May after admitting drunkenly walking into a city centre betting shop and joking to staff that he had a gun.

At Worcester Magistrates Court, Nicola Ritchie, prosecuting, said Langham turned up at Worcester Police Station at around 2.15pm on August 1.

Langham shouted and swore at counter staff and officers were called. The court heard the 35-year-old swore at officers.

Miss Ritchie said he was then escorted out the station but continued swearing at officers, in front of members of the public.

Miss Richie said: “In the opinion of police he was drunk.

“He went back into the station, officers were called again. He was arrested for being drunk and disorderly.”

Langham, of Withybed Lane, Inkberrow, admitted the charge when he appeared before magistrates yesterday.

A probation report showed Langham had been complying with a community order given to him for the May offence and had not breached the requirements.

Langham, representing himself, told magistrates that he went to the station as he had lost his friend.

“The staff weren’t talking to me,” said Langham.

“I had a few beers - it’s no excuse.

“I have not had a drink since.”

As Langham was still subject to the community order, with three months still to run, magistrates chose not to give him another order.

Instead, Langham was fined £40, and ordered to pay costs of £135, and a victim surcharge of £30 - a total of £205.

This was added to Langham’s outstanding fines of £160.

Previously, Langham admitted walking into William Hill in The Cross, in March, with his hand in his pocket telling a member of staff: “I have got a gun. Hand over the money.”
