It’s New Year’s Eve and today is the day I also go public to our Breast Unit Events supporters on Facebook and Twitter.

My best friend Susie and I set up Breast Unit Events in 2014 to give some focus to our fundraising for the Worcestershire Breast Unit.

In early 2016, once the Breast Unit opened, the new Worcestershire Breast Unit Haven charity was set up to continue to improve the Unit and to make it a centre of excellence and so our fundraising continues. We do this in our spare time.

The outpouring of love, support and offers of help from people I know, and also people I don’t, was staggering, for which I am very grateful.

I then receive a message from Dad: ‘Do you mind if we go to Cornwall?’

Right, so there is some context required here. Mum and Dad were due to go to Cornwall on December 30 for New Year.

But after I told them my news on December 29 they (as you know) were devastated and said they wouldn’t and couldn’t go away.

However, they already knew that Timmy and I were going out to a 1980s-themed NYE party and had seen I wasn’t going to stop enjoying myself at the mo, so they knew there was nothing they could really do by stopping at home.

My response: ‘No, of course you can go’ (i.e. trot off and go and enjoy yourselves... no point moping around at home).

I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult this is for them though and they are being super protective. Tim has said that he doesn’t like to let me out of his sight at the moment, and they are probably the same.

Until next week readers, Kate. xx
