A SPECIAL car used to transport wheelchair users has been stolen from a Kidderminster care home today (August 13) during an early morning raid.

Police slammed the “stupidity” of the theft from Brinton Care Home in Stourport Road at around 6am this morning and urged anyone with information to come forward.

It is believed the burglars climbed over the garden fence to gain access to the property.

The keys to two other vehicles, and a purse, were also taken.

The specially adapted green Peugeot Partner Combi car, similar to the one pictured, has been designed to transport the home’s wheelchair service users.

Inspector Jake Wright, of Wyre Forest Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “The theft of the specially adapted vehicle simply highlights the stupidity and thoughtlessness of those responsible.

“The theft of any vehicle has potentially significant implications to the owner but on this occasion, individuals who require dedicated support with mobility will be unfairly disadvantaged.

“Officers are working hard to establish who is responsible and I would encourage anyone with information regarding this offence or the whereabouts of the vehicle to contact me so we can return it to the care home.”

The vehicle carries the registration number SH08 USF.

Anyone with information is urged to call 101 quoting incident number 89S 130818 or Inspector Wright directly on 01562 826171.

Alternatively, people can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
