A 90 YEAR old had a birthday to remember as he went up into the air not once, but twice.
Wally Bowles from Credenhill flew many long flights with the RAF in Mitchell and Lancaster bombers at the end of the Second World War.
To celebrate his 90th, he was given two memorable experiences at Shobdon Airfield.
Firstly he felt to Welshpool International and back in Herefordshire Aero Club's Cessna 152 with Richard Hubbard.
He then went up in Herefordshire Gliding Club's 'Acro' training glider with Dewi Edwards for a 45-minutes soaring flight to 3,700feet in very thermic conditions.
Wally said that the experiences brought back memories of his flying days during the 40s.
Both clubs offer trial flights via their websites.
