A CHARITY golf day hosted by a Redditch recruitment firm has raised more than £2,000 for the Primrose Hospice.

Workforce Staffing brought 18 teams together from across the region and raised £2,380 to support the hospice, which relies heavily on voluntary donations and needs almost £2m every year to operate.

It offers support to patients in the town who have been diagnosed with a life limited illness and their family, including children through a day hospice and family support services.

The company’s annual golf competition, held at Blackwell Golf Club, was won by Studley-based Dash Motor Services who took the trophy home for the second time in three years.

To help raise funds, the day also included prizes for the longest drive, a nearest the pin contest, and a competition with a professional trick-shot specialist.

Workforce Staffing’s managing director Joe Alekna said: “We had a great day, with brilliant prizes and support from local businesses for an exceptionally worthy cause.

“Primrose Hospice does so much for so many people and families around north Worcestershire. As our chosen charity for this year, we are doing all we can to support their amazing work.

“We’ve now raised almost £15,000 this year and aim to keep going with other events planned.”
