MEMBERS of a Stourbridge gym have been left shocked after it closed without warning – just seven months after opening.

Revival Fitness, which opened in Lower High Street at the start of April, ceased trading on Sunday November 19.

A note on the gym’s Facebook page from managing director Stuart Cox said the decision to close had “not been taken lightly” and it came after the breakdown of talks with potential investors.

He added: “I apologise for any inconvenience caused by the closure of our gym, it is not something I would have wished. All the members of staff have worked extremely hard in trying to make a success of our gym and I thank them for this. I wish all our fantastic and loyal members all the best for the future.”

Cotswold Journal:

Members have been taking to the social media site to express their sadness at the sudden closure – with some saying they’ve been left out of pocket after paying £120 upfront for a year-long membership.

Kevin Freckelton, of Lower High Street, who had six months left to run on his paid-for 12-month membership, said: “In the scheme of things £60 isn’t a great deal but it’s more annoying than anything. I used the gym every day and I can’t really afford to join another one as I’m out of work at the moment.”

Another gym-goer, who was half-way through a six-month membership, said on Facebook: “I need that money to now join a new gym. I'm gutted it's closed and feel for all involved. It was a fab gym.”

A note on the Revival Fitness Facebook page said a special membership rate had been agreed at Snap Fitness in Hagley Road for affected members of Revival who are urged to contact their banks to cancel direct debits.
